Kendall A. Wittig, 55, of Sidney, passed away in Chappell, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Dave Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. with family present from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Contributions may be made in care of the family.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Kendall’s care and funeral arrangements.

Kendall Arnold Wittig, the son of Arnold and Gloria (Rahe) Wittig, was born July 26, 1957, in Chappell. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Chappell High School where he was involved in many sports. He graduated in 1975 then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He married his high school sweetheart, RoxAnne Timm, on Sept. 22, 1979, in Chappell. They made their home in Sidney where they raised their four children on the Wittig farm. Kendall took great joy in raising his children and coaching their T-ball, basketball, and soccer teams. He traveled near and far and made sure to never miss any of their high school events. He participated in Men’s League Basketball and loved playing golf.

Kendall’s latest blessing was playing with his two grandsons. He was a loving father and grandfather and always told his kids how proud of them he was.

He is preceded in death by his wife, RoxAnne (Timm) Wittig; mother, Gloria (Rahe) Wittig; parents-in-law, Bob and Wilma Timm; and brother-in-law, Rick Timm.

Survivors include his children, Lindsey and Tait Hrbek of Sidney, McKenzie and Casey Collier of Chicago, Neleigh Wittig of Chicago, Koleman Wittig of Denver; grandsons, Briggs and Crue Hrbek of Sidney; father, Arnold Wittig of Chappell; sister, Stacie and Bob Bender of Bakersfield, Calif; two brothers-in-law, Ron Timm of Chappell and Rocky Timm and wife Ruby also of Chappell; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
