Buckley Trust Scholarships announced

The 2013 Buckley Trust Scholarship applications are now available.

Six, $2,000 scholarships have been established to encourage Creek Valley Senior High School graduating seniors to pursue additional educational training for their personal growth that in turn will benefit the economic development of the community.

The trustees emphasized first of all, the importance of young people getting involved and volunteering towards the betterment of the community which Tom Buckley loved most, and second that educational opportunities be provided to motivate and support young people not able to afford the total cost of higher education in their pursuit of higher education.

The Thomas D. Buckley Trust Scholarships are to be awarded on the following criteria:

• Creek Valley High School senior who will be graduating at the end of his/her senior year;

• Student demonstrating involvement in school and/or community;

• Student has maintained a C or above grade point average;

• Student is to apply in one of the following five categories of academic studies (departments):

• Business/Social Studies

• English/Foreign Language

• Music/ Fine Arts

• Science/Mathematics

• Vocational Areas

• Awards shall be decided without regard to sex, race, religion, national or ethnic origin.

Graduating seniors may acquire a scholarship application from Mrs. Ford, counselor at Creek Valley High School. The application deadline is April 3,2013.
