Helen M. Jeppesen

Helen Marie Jeppesen (age 91), a retired Kindergarten teacher of Sidney Public Schools, died the 25th of October, 2012 at Mapleton Care Center in Lakewood, CO.

A remembrance tour of North Elementary School will be on Friday, June 7th from 2:30 until 3:00 P.M. The Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Family will be present to share stories and memories of Helen. The community is invited to a reception at 7:30 P.M., Friday at the St. Paul’s Educational Building. Memorial services will be at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, June 8th in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Bradley Heinecke officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. May she rest in peace with her God. Amen

She was born February 10th, 1921 on a farm near Big Springs, NE, a daughter of Emil and Ella Reimers. She graduated from Big Springs High School May 13th, 1938, attended Kearney State College and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

She taught 5 years in a rural school near Big Springs. In August of 1944 Helen M. Reimers married Clifford H. Jeppesen and lived in Loveland, CO for 5 years. Cliff and Helen and their two young daughters, Karen and Pam, moved to Sidney in August 1950. Clifford Jeppesen then joined Elmer Weber and Rod Nelson to manage and operate Triangle Sheet Metal Plumbing and Heating.

Within the first four years living in Sidney, their family grew by two more children, a son John and a daughter Chris.

After Cliff Jeppesen passed away July 8th 1955 with Leukemia, Helen joined the teaching staff, the fall of 1956. She graduated from Chadron State College July 28th, 1960.

She was a Kindergarten teacher at North Ward, Sidney Public schools for 30 years. Helen loved teaching. She found so much joy and friendship in her students, as she guided and walked with them side by side. She also loved music, playing the piano, sewing and traveling with family.

All of her family certainly feels blessed to have had such a wonderful, loving and dedicated mother.

We that survive her include (3) daughters: Karen R. Jeppesen of Lincoln, NE, Pam Jones and husband Dan of Granbury, TX and Chris Jeppesen of Lakewood, CO; (1) son: John C. Jeppesen and wife Julia of Wheat Ridge, CO; (3) grandchildren: Chris Jones of Round Rock, TX, Ben Jones and wife Akanne of Seattle, WA and Zoe Parisian-Jeppesen of Wheat Ridge, (1) brother: Dr. Bill Reimers of Denver, sister-in-law: Charlotte Anderson of Sidney and brother in-law: Howard Jeppesen of Fremont, NE.
