Smashers rise above Titans

Led by team captain Avinash Pal's 52 runs not out and three wickets, the Sidney Smashers cricket team won their match handily over the Titans at Country Field Park Cricket Ground in Erie, Colo. by 48 runs.

Pal's batting included three six-run hits and two-four run hits. Sreeni Lingampalli, Mylam and SriHarsha also had strong games at bat with 31, 25 and 20 runs respectively. Each of them had two four-run hits.

In addition to Pal's three wickets, Ashish Tyagi collected three in two overs. SriHarsha and Mylam picked off three wickets in three overs each.

The Smashers opened the contest by winning the toss and elected to bat first. Sidney proceeded to score 141 runs.

"The Smashers were confident to defend the total with the kind of bowling (we) have, provided the fielders support their bowlers," said Pal.

The fielders did the job as needed. Siva tracked one catch down after sprinting about 35-40 yards.
