Roy E. Call, 67 of Sidney, passed away at his home Friday morning, February 21, 2014.

Graveside Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 28th in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Cremation has been chosen. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday to sign Roy's register book and drop off condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Roy's name to the DAV Chapter #40 Van Fund for Cheyenne County.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service LLC, is in charge of Roy's care and funeral arrangements.

Roy Everett Call, the son of Vernon Everett and Lillian Marie (Jensen) Call was born on June 25, 1946 in Sidney. He grew up on Fifth Avenue with his parents and two sisters. He enjoyed woodworking while in school and completed the eleventh grade. Roy joined the United States Navy Feb. 10, 1964 where he completed his G.E.D and was awarded the National Defense Medal. Upon his Honorable Discharge he continued to serve with the Naval Reserves until Feb. 9, 1970. Roy began working for Hamlin Electric where he completed nearly thirty-five years of employment.

Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pitch, shooting pool and spending time with his family. He loved practicing various sports and attending games and events of his children and grandchildren. Roy is a twenty-five year member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed smoking various meats and driving the fire truck during parades.

Survivors include his wife: Norma of Sidney; (4) children: Rhonda Schuh and husband Ed of New Mexico, Louie Miller and wife Amanda of Morrill, Regina Williams and husband Steve of North Platte, and Michelle Call of Sidney; (12) grandchildren; (3) great-grandchildren; (2) sisters: Geri Buxbaum and husband Kenny of Bayard, NE and Jeanette Dorman and husband Ray of Sidney and numerous extended family members and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Vern and Lillian, (1) grandson: DJ and lifelong friend/brother: Mark.
