Court Briefs 05-21-14

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday, May 19, 2014 before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Joshua Yack, age 33 of Gurley, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI 2nd and 3rd Degree Assault: Menacing Threats. These are class W and I misdemeanors, respectively. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Yack pled guilty to DUI 1st and Attempted 3rd Degree Assault: Menacing Threats, class W and II misdemeanors. Judge Roland placed Yack on probation for 9 months and ordered him to pay a $500 fine.

Madison Harris, age 24 of Sidney, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI, Chem Test Refusal and PBT refusal. These are class W, W and V misdemeanors, respectively. Pursuant to a plea agreement Harris pled guilty to the Chemical Test Refusal, a class W misdemeanor. He received 6 months probation and a $500 fine.

Robert Douglass, age 51 of Torrington, Wyo., appeared for sentencing on a charge of Theft, a class I misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement by the parties, the Defendant received 20 days jail and was ordered to pay $186 in court costs.

James Corne, age 25 of Sidney, appeared for presentment on a charge of Terroristic Threats, a class IV felony. He asked for counsel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 23 at 1p.m.

Aaron Wilson, age 19 of Norfolk, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Meth and Criminal Impersonation. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to an amended charge of Attempted Criminal Impersonation, a class I misdemeanor. He received 6 days in jail.

The following person appeared in Cheyenne County District Court on Tuesday, May 20, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:

Kristi Keenan, age 30 of Dalton, appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Theft by Extortion, a class III felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled no contest to an amended charge of Theft by Extortion, a class IV felony. Judge Weimer ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigative Report. Sentencing is set for July 2 at 10 a.m.

The following people appeared in Deuel County Court on Tuesday, May 20, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Levi Queen, age 34 of Loveland, Colo., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Possession of Marijuana over 1 Pound, a class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement he pled guilty to Attempted Possession of Marijuana over 1 pound, a class I misdemeanor. He received 7 days in jail and a $1000 fine.

Jennifer Aufdengarten, age 28 of Ogallala, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Writing a Bad Check, a class IV Felony. She pled guilty to an amended charge of Writing a Bad Check, reduced to a class II misdemeanor. She received a $50 fine and restitution in the amount of $34.52.

Sandy Paiz, age 54 of Ovid, Colo., appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Refusal of a Chemical Test (2 prior convictions), a class IIIA felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement she pled guilty to DUI 2nd Offense, which is a class W misdemeanor. A Pre-Sentence Investigative Report was ordered. Sentencing is set for June 19.
