Incumbents rule in contested Sidney elections

With election day concluded, Nebraska has a new sense of optimism with it’s newly elected officials.

While scores of Nebraskans took to the polls Tuesday, the results in Sidney left residents with some very familiar public officials back in office.

Sidney School District School board incumbents Randy Flamig, Janet Rosenbaum and Thomas A. Von Seggern retained their four-year board member positions.

“My passion is for student learning and using our tax dollars wisely,” Von Seggern said. “It’s important to help the students be as successful as they can for each of the tax dollars that we spend.”

Sidney City Council incumbents Roger M. Gallaway, Wendall F. Gatson and Mark Nienhueser also all retained their City Council Seats.

“I’m just excited that I get the opportunity to continue all of the work that we have in the community” Gallaway said.

“My goal is to continue all the projects that we have going and to complete them,” Gatson said. “I appreciate the people’s confidence in the effort I make to try to make sure we cover all the bases. There’s a lot going on in Sidney.”

In the Leyton School Board race, Ryan Lembke, Robert N. Rushman and Jennifer Powell won the three seats.

Mike Rotert, Chandell Oleson and Seasons M. Uhrig won the three Potter-Dix School Board four-year term seats.

The Creek Valley School Board seats will be held by Martha “Marty” Savely, Julie Koenen and Paul Dykstra.

In another race with local significance, Molly O’Holleran, wife of 38 years to Sidney native Tim O’Holleran, won the State Board of Education District 7 race.
