Coaches selected for state's all-star volleyball game

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The volleyball coaches have been selected to lead the West and East teams for the 31st annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. This year’s game will be played Saturday, June 13 on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.

Jodie Schuller from Chase County High School has been selected as the head coach for the West. This past season Chase County finished with a record of 26-3, losing to Chadron in the semifinals of the C1-12 Sub-Districts. This is Coach Schuller’s second appearance as a coach in the West Nebraska All Star game. She previously served as the head coach for the West in 2005

Angie Hiemstra from Alliance has been chosen as the assistant coach for the West squad for this year’s game. Hiemstra is also making her second appearance as a coach in the volleyball game. She served as the West head coach in 2008. Her husband Randy will be an assistant coach for the West in the football game.

Leading the East volleyball team this year is Katie Helms from Cambridge High. Helms led Cambridge to a record of 21-9, losing to North Platte St. Pat’s in the semi-finals of the C2-11 Sub-District. This is Helms’s first appearance as a coach in the game.

Lynne Johnson from Brady High will serve as the assistant coach for the East squad. Coach Johnson will be coaching in the game for the third time. She served as an East assistant coach in 2009 and was the East head coach in 2012.
