Regional West Hospice seeking volunteers

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Regional West Hospice (previously Prairie Haven Hospice) is seeking volunteers to help patients and their families.

The role of a hospice volunteer varies. It could mean staying with the patient for an hour while their caregiver shops for groceries, or maybe it’s simply being a calm and steady presence in an emotional time. Clerical and bereavement support volunteers are also needed. Opportunities also exist to use the unique skills that volunteers may have to offer.

Every Regional West hospice volunteer receives free and comprehensive training prior to be assigned any volunteer jobs. This ensures that the volunteers are aware of what to expect while assisting our staff and patients.

Volunteers are being sought in Kimball, Bridgeport, Bayard, Hemingford, Alliance, Scottsbluff and Gering and Torrington, Wyo.

The next training sessions will be Saturday, July 18, and Saturday, July 25 in Scottsbluff. The deadline to sign up for the free training is June 15.

If you are interested in becoming a Regional West Hospice volunteer, call Janelle Debes, assistant director of volunteer services, at (308) 630-1271 or e-mail her at [email protected].
