Kraus selected as June's Artist of the Month

The Cheyenne County Art Guild selected Pat Kraus as Artist of the Month for June.

Kraus has been a member of the CCAG for 38 years and has served as president and vice president, as well as having served on various art show committees.

Essentially a self-taught artist, she said she enjoys working in several different mediums and forms of art with acrylics, watercolor pencil, clay and pastels.

Growing up in the country, she said she has always had a passion for the outdoor, animals, nature and wildlife. These are the subjects and inspiration for her paintings, drawings and sculptures. Kraus enjoys producing art for the color and creativity as well as the challenge of starting a new project.

Her work has been exhibited locally and regionally, where she has received several awards for her work. According to Kraus, art in any form is a wonderful enjoyment and pasttime, and she encourages anyone interested in art to give it a try.

Kraus' clay relief sculpture of an eagle is on display at the Sidney Public Library this month. She also has 12 artworks on display at the Cheyenne County Community Center until July 12.
