Leyton volleyball posts three wins

The Leyton High School volleyball team posted three victories in a four-team tournament it hosted on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Warriors improved to 22-8 and begin sub-district play next week.

Leyton downed Banner County 25-15, 25-8, rolled past Minatare 25-8, 25-4 and topped South Platte 25-21, 25-20.

In the opener against Banner County (4-19), Natalie Cruise led the Lady Warriors with seven kills, nine digs and a pair of aces.

Taylor Berner handed out 16 assists, Diedra Waite chipped in seven digs and Cheyenne Nickel served two aces.

Against Minatare (1-22), Waite had a team-high five kills and teammate Kristine Barnett added four kills. Cheyenne Nickel and Cruise had six aces apiece. Berner doled out six assists.

In the nightcap against South Platte (8-13), Nickel had eight kills and Barnett and Cruise added six and five kills respectively. Berner had 23 assists and four aces and Hope Dykman chipped in 12 digs.

Leyton plays in the Subdistrict D1-12 tournament with Creek Valley, Morrill and Dundy County-Stratton on Monday at Prairie View School.
