Entries sought for Agriculture Week poster contest

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is now accepting entries for its 13th annual Agriculture Week in Nebraska poster contest.

The contest, open to all Nebraska students in grades 1-6, highlights the diversity of agriculture and raises awareness of the importance of agriculture in our state. This year’s contest theme is “Agriculture: Growing Nebraska.”

“Agriculture is Nebraska’s number one industry, and we want to give students the chance to share their art, passion and knowledge of agriculture through this contest,” said NDA Director Greg Ibach. “It’s also a great opportunity for teachers to talk about agriculture and help students better understand where food comes from and the effort, skill and care it takes to produce it.”

The entry deadline for the contest is March 1. The winners will be announced during National Ag Week, March 13-19.

The contest is divided into three age categories: first and second grade students, third and fourth grade students and fifth and sixth grade students.

Winning entries will be featured on NDA’s website and in promotional materials and publications.

Contest rules and official entry forms are available online at http://www.nda.nebraska.gov/kids. For more information, contact Christin Kamm at (402) 471-6856 or [email protected].
