U.S. Open has Sidney tie

Even the non-golfer can appreciate one facet of the U.S. Open golf championship this weekend, armed with the knowledge that the lush greenery of the Erin Hills Golf Course has a Sidney connection.

Located at Erin, Wisconsin, 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee, Erin Hills Golf Course was built using the natural dips and hills left from glacial activity.

Then-owner Milwaukee businessman Bob Lang envisioned the rolling hills as a perfect place for the U.S. Open and convinced bankers to help him build the $25 million course.
