Doris Javins Preister - Obituary

Former Sidney-Hastings resident, Doris Javins Preister, 99, of Eugene, OR., passed away on March 11, 2017.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, NE on June 30, 2017 with Father Bob Karnish officiating. Burial of her cremains and Mark Preister’s will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE., next to her daughter’s grave (Emma Jean).

Doris was born on June 30, 1917 to Michael and Emma (Buckley) Brown in Cambridge, NE. She attended Cambridge High School and graduated just days before the Republican River flood in 1935. She attended nursing school in Denver, CO.

Doris worked and lived at the Ordville Ordiance Depot, and then moved into Sidney, NE., until 1958. She moved to Hastings, NE., and worked at various jobs before working at Good Samaritan Nursing Home until retiring. She married Mark Preister on July 15, 1972, in Hastings. They moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1987 and lived there until 1997 when she moved to Eugene, Oregon, after Mark Preister passed away.

She is survived by sons; Michael of Roseburg, Oregon, Joseph of Grants Pass, Oregon, Daniel of Kearney, Nebraska, Paul of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tim of Fresno, California and son in law Eric Holman of Elmira, Oregon, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bernard, husband Mark, daughters Emma Jean Javins and Mary Ann Holman, daughter in laws, Nancy and Christina Javins and one granddaughter Jennifer Javins.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1039 14th Ave. , P.O. Box 99, Sidney, NE.69162.
