WING Task Force makes two Sidney arrests

Two Sidney residents were arrested on felony charges Friday as local law enforcement personnel from the Western Nebraska Intelligence Group (WING) Task Force investigated a report of drugs being shipped through the mail to the Sidney Post Office.

According to the arrest affidavit, WING Task Force officers from the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office, Sidney Police Departments and Nebraska State Patrol, aided by the United States Postal Inspectors Service, observed Sean Ewert accept a package from Meza, Arizona that contained suspected Methamphetamine.

After taking possession of the package, Ewert was contacted in front of the Post Office and the package,

containing a self-sealed cellophane baggy containing three individual cellophane baggies containing suspected Methamphetamine.

The affidavit said the material was field tested and showed a presumptive positive for Methamphetamine. Other materials found at the scene included a Methamphetamine pipe.

When weighed by officers, the plastic bags had a total weight of approximately four ounces.

After an interview, Ewert was transported to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office and booked.

While investigating a second location, a Sidney residence, law enforcement officers discovered a shotgun and further investigation indicated that the weapon belonged to Ewert, a convicted felon.

A search warrant was issued for the residence and during that search officers discovered additional weapons and other drug-related items in Ewerts bedroom.

Officers also found Mathamphetamine pipes, a chocolate bar infused with THC/Marijuana and a weappon in the bedroom of another resident, Nicole Houser.

According to the affidavit released by the Cheyenne County Attorney's Office, Ewert was arrested on seven felony charges, five for Possession of a Controlled Substance, one for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and on for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent.

According to an email release from the County Attorney last week, Houser was also arrested, but no details were available at press time. The email said more arrests are expected.
