Fair 2017 comes to an end

The 2017 Cheyenne County Fair concluded Saturday and it was a success for the area's 4-H youths, Cynthia Gill, extension educator, said.

"Despite the hot temperatures, I think the youths who participated learned a lot and had a good time," Gill said.

This year's highlights include a fashion show, entrepreneurship expo and livestock shows.

"We had about 300 youths participate in this year's fair," Gill said. "It's down slightly from last year but with all that's going on in the community we expected that. I thought the quality of our exhibits was up and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."

Best about the annual fair is getting to see youths succeed, Gill said.

"I always enjoy seeing someone succeed," she said. "Maybe they didn't expect themselves to do so well. For me, it's always rewarding to see the youths enjoy the results of their hard work."

The week-long event is a culmination of a year of practice and dedication for the 4-H youths, honing what they've learned through workshops.
