Rat Pack Jazz

Rat Pack Jazz is scheduled to perform in Sidney 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center.

The Omaha-based group, including Johnny Adams on vocals, Ron Cooley on guitar, Jim Williamson on keyboard and pedal bass and Carlos Figueroa on drums and percussion, will be making their first appearance in Sidney as part of the High Plains Arts Council 2017-2018 season.

Adams and Cooley have been appearing across the country for more than three decades. Each has worked with Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller. Cooley traveled with one of the touring bands and Adams performed at press events and in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

They founded the Rate Pack Jazz ensemble five years ago.

Rat Pack Jazz' repertoire features classics from "The Great American Songbook" made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole. Some of the songs audiences may recognize include "Night and Day," "Fly Me to the Moon," and "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime."

"We took music from the late 1940s to the early 1960s, the 'Golden Age of Song,' because swing is fun to play and has wide appeal," Adams said.
