Leyton FFA Bestows Awards, Installs Officers

Leyton's FFA Banquet was held on Friday, April 27th at 6:00 p.m. After the opening ceremonies by the Leyton FFA Officers, President, Paige Ernest, welcomed the guests. Vice President, D.J. George, led the invocation before the meal.

Once everyone had the chance to go through the food line, Destinee Henke introduced guest speaker, former State Vice President, Hailey Coufal, from Howells-Dodge FFA Chapter, who presented some inspiratonal words.

AJ Bishop, Logan Borges, Quentin Brown, Ella Draper, Jillian Ehlers, Corrissa Fostervold, Zac Henke, Austin Huls, Ariauna Maestas, Zane Miller, Sage Rummel, Hannah Vath, and Dawson Wiggins were recognized for receiving their Greenhand Degree in November 2017. The Star Greenhand member for 2018 was awarded to Dawson Wiggins.

Candidates who received their Chapter Degree include Kort Dye, Triston Gartner-Hume, Sierra Nickel, Destinee Henke, Shelby Miller, Kelcie VanAnne, Tyson Bayne, Megan Ernest, Taylee Gartner, Betsy Hansen, Alyson Holt, Blake Miller, Cassidee Murray, and Mayson Rowan.

Star Chapter Agribusiness was awarded to Alyson Holt, Star Chapter Placement was awarded to Betsy Hansen, and Star Chapter Farmer was awarded to Destinee Henke.

The Chapter recognized Bailey Cooper for earning the highest degree in FFA, the American Degree, at the October, National Convention in Indianapolis.

Leadership pins were awarded to those members who were top leadership point earners in their class. These went to freshman, Jillian Ehlers, sophomore, Alyson Holt, junior, Mariah Draper, and senior, Paige Ernest.

Scholarship award, which is the top GPA member in their class went to freshmen Carissa Fostervold and Hannah Vath, sophomores Megan Ernest and Alyson Holt, junior Destinee Henke, and senior Paige Ernest.

Special recognition and thanks was given to parents, school administration, faculty, school staff, business representatives, and public members who had donated either time or money to the Leyton FFA Chapter.

The Leyton FFA Chapter Honorary membership was awarded to Mike Goeman. Recognition was given to Panhandle COOP who donated $500 to the chapter.

The senior members gave their parents special recognition by giving them a gold rose and thanking them for what they have done to help them through their FFA experience.

To finish the FFA banquet, the new Leyton FFA Chapter Officers for the 2018-2019 school year were revealed. New officers include: President, D.J. George; Vice President: Alyson Holt; Secretary, Megan Ernest; Treasurer, Betsy Hansen; Reporter, Destinee Henke; Sentinel, Mariah Draper, and Parliamentarian, Mayson Rowan. The banquet was concluded with closing ceremony presented by the new officer.
