Poppy Painting Celebrates Chautauqua

To coincide with the Sidney Chautauqua, the Cheyenne County Art Guild is holding a “Paint a Poppy” painting party on June 12th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Coffee Corner. Cost is $25. To register, please contact Cindi Egging at 308-249-4206.

Poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime.

Part of that significance was due to the poem “In Flanders Fields”, written by Major John McCrae, describing the scene of a poppy field he saw following the death of a friend during WWI....
