Sidney Students of the Month

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding Contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

Recognized for the March 2022 Performance Awards are:

7th Grade — Jayden Hodgson: Jayden is a very dedicated, respectful, and caring individual. She is always willing to go the extra mile to do her school work, show sportsmanship and respect in Physical Education, and stay dedicated to achieving goals she has set for herself. Jayden does a great job of collaborating with others in class, as well as just working on things herself. Regardless of the hurdle, Jayden keeps a positive attitude and is respectfully empathetic towards her peers and teachers. Jayden remains active in school through various activities such as Spirit Club, Track and Volleyball. She is also a part of National Junior Honor Society, which is a testament to her hard work. Jayden is a fantastic student and shows it every day through her kindness and compassion towards others. Jayden is the daughter of Chris and Jov Hodgson.

8th Grade — Jakob Linden: Jakob is very active in the school. He is a very positive leader, and a strong student in the classroom. Thank you, Jakob, for being a great student and a leader in the classroom. Keep working hard. Jakob is the son of Riley Linden and Patty Turnbull.

9th Grade — Ruben Carrillo: Ruben works hard, has a positive attitude and workers well with all kinds of kids. Ruben has excellent grades and is a wonderful student. He is incredibly determined and focused during class.

His positive attitude and kindness towards others makes him an excellent student leader. Ruben showcases his efforts in the classroom and on the field as well. He is involved in Basketball and Track.

He enjoys playing basketball at the Community Center in his free time. Ruben’s future plans are to create his own clothing line. Ruben’s brother is Jesus Serrano.

10th Grade — Austin Pace: Austin has exceptional grades, is polite, well rounded, follows directions,advocates for himself, comes in after school, is responsible and initiates conversations with teachers. Austin is consistent in his commitment in providing full effort to all coursework and school related activities. Austin is involved in the Gaming Club. He loves playing video games, reading books, and spending time with relatives. Austin’s grandmother is Toni Teague.

11th Grade — Gavin Allen: Teachers expressed that Gavin is such an awesome young man. He is very pleasant and willing to engage with others. When asked to do a challenging task, he is always willing to try. He has an excellent attitude and is a great example for others. Teachers appreciate his dependability and consistency in class each day.

Gavin has a bright future and is willing to put in the work to make the most of it. He is polite and a hard worker. He always make a point to be proactive when he knows he is going to be gone from class.

He also is a good helper to some of the students that need extra assistance. He’s a great student overall. Gavin tutors for Unified Raiders at West Elementary and is involved in DECA and enjoys photography and cook. Gavin hopes to attend UNL and study Business. Gavin’s parents are Travis Allen and Darla Allen.

12th Grade — Jonathan Carrillo: Jonathan is an excellent student who always brings a positive attitude to class. He has been great in school and activities. He shows great maturity and respect to teachers and peers, and has fit in well at Sidney High School. Jonathan loves playing basketball and also loves shoes. Jonathan plans on attending WNCC or UTRGV to obtain a business degree. Jonathan’s brother is Jesus Serrano.
