Elroy E. Morlock

Elroy E. Morlock, age 87, of Sidney, passed away in Sidney, NE on Friday, October 27, 2023. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Gehrig-Stitt Event Center, 1212 10th Avenue, Sidney, NE. Military Graveside Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Followed by a reception at the Gehrig-Stitt Event Center Services. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-6:00 P.M. with family present from 4-6:00 P.M. to leave condolences for the family.

Elroy Edward Morlock born October 19, 1936 to Edward and Lea (Heyd) Morlock on the farm just outside Eureka, SD. Elroy attended Eureka school and worked on the family farm until he joined the Army in 1955 where he served in Korea.

On September 15th 1957 Elroy married the love of his life Arlene Eisenbeiz. Elroy and Arlene had 6 children Randy, Rodney, Roxane, Rhonda, Ronald, and Rachel. Later in life they welcomed Jeff Hammond into the family.

Elroy worked many jobs throughout his life everything from a farm hand to an over the road truck driver. After moving to Sidney, NE in 1973 he worked for Dinklage Feed Yard for a time, then working for and retiring from Cheyenne County Dept of Roads. 

After retiring Elroy and Arlene moved to Deadwood, SD where they loved 4 wheeling and playing cards until all hours of the morning. They would eventually move back to Sidney to be closer to their children and grandchildren. 

Elroy was a long-time member of the Sidney Elks Lodge where he held many offices including Exalted Ruler. He was also an active member of the Sidney Honor Guard, something he was very proud of.

Elroy is survived by one son Rodney and wife Vicki Morlock of Sunol, NE, three daughters, Roxane and husband Mark Foos, of Marshfield, MO, Rhonda and husband Jay Portenier and Rachel and husband Burt Abrams both of Sidney, NE, Jeff and wife Karmen Hammond of Sidney, NE,  and one daughter-in-law Karla Morlock of Sidney, NE, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great child on the way, one sister Ardella Sedivic, and two brothers Marvin and wife Mary Morlock and Wilbert Morlock.

Elroy was preceded in death by his loving wife Arlene, two sons Randy and Ronald Morlock, his parents Edward and Lea Morlock along with a brother-in-law Delbert Sedivic and sister-in-law Patti Morlock.

In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to congregate meals, something he enjoyed dearly the past two years.
