Myron Lee Leypoldt was born on August 4, 1953, to Nyle and Marietta (Fehringer) Leypoldt at the Roche Hospital in Sidney, NE. Myron attended Sidney Public Schools, graduating in 1972. During high school he discovered he had a passion for art. After graduation Myron spent 6 months studying at a Monastery School in Missouri. He transferred to Omaha to try big city life. Eventually Myron moved back to Sidney and began working at Sidney Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. His best friends were the staff that worked alongside him. Later he worked as an orderly and received his degree as a medication aide. He continued in this position until he retired. He did not give up his love of the residents and began playing cards with them as well as a Eucharistic minister for St. Patrick's church homebound with his sister Nyla. Myron had a green thumb which could get out of hand. He loved going to his brother Gayland's garden in the summer.

Myron was very active with St. Patrick's Catholic church starting as an altar boy and later became an honored Knight of Columbus. Deloris Stevens trained him how to make rosaries out of colored twine. It has been concluded he had made over 12,000 rosaries over the years. These rosaries were sent overseas to the military services, children receiving their first communion and confirmation and a treat for elderly members of the church. If the Knights were involved in an event, you can be assured Myron was helping including being on the bowling league. He loved helping with the degrees. Several years ago, Myron received the runner up award for Knight of the Year for Nebraska. He was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary, Fall Bazaar and called bingo for years on Sunday Nights. Myron loved playing cards with anyone, anytime and then would go to the movie once a week till it became difficult for him to enter the theatre. One of his jobs in his earlier years was cleaning the theatre because he would get free passes.

Myron found his home at Western Heritage where he could show off his cooking and card skills. His favorite was pitch and making homemade ice cream. A new adventure began when he entered Sloan Estates. His humor went with him and so did his love for watching movies and teasing his friends. His family enjoyed taking him out for rides to church and out to eat. His other passion was his extended family. The year he was born 3 other cousins joined him at birth. The Fehringer's (15 cousins) spent every holiday together. Myron was up and center for everything that the cousins could think of doing. His Uncle Donald had a dairy farm in Peetz, and walked in just as Myron was trying to put a cat in the vat so the cat could get a drink of milk. He loved going to Denver to see the Leypoldt cousins and seeing the sights of Denver, especially Cinderella City and Lakeside Amusement Park or picnics with all the relatives at his grandparents.

The day after his brother Bruce passed away, Myron was moved to the Rest Home in Sidney. This was like going home for him since he worked there for many years and enjoyed his new family. His health finally took a toll on his body.

Myron will always be remembered by his smile (with one tooth), his ability to know when everyone's birthday was and all the family history. He knew everyone and so many people enjoyed being around Myron. Myron developed a passion from his father for "Diet Dr Pepper" until the day he passed away.

Myron is survived by his sister Nyla and husband Randall Hobson and brother Gayland Leypoldt all of Sidney; his nephews Trevor Hobson and wife Tanissa and family of New Prague, MN, Dane Hobson and wife Tiffany and family of Sidney and Lincoln, Chris and wife Kim and family of Texas and only niece Brittainy and husband Tom Adams and family of Lancaster, PA; his uncles and aunt, Ivan and Donna Fehringer, Arleigh Nelson and Richard Coldwell as well as 19 cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and fraternal grandparents, brother Bruce Leypoldt and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
