Richard "Dick" C. Eckley, age 84 of Sidney, NE passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be scheduled at a later date.

Richard "Dick" Charles Eckley was born on June 5, 1939 to Richard and Mary (Steele) Eckley in Tekamah, NE. In 1956, Dick graduated from Escondido high school in Escondido, CA. After graduating from high school, Dick joined the Air Force and served his country for 13 years. During this time, Dick met JaNohn "Jonnie" Goldberg of Wakefield, NE. The two were married on October 24, 1959 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, NE. In their 64 years of marriage, Dick and Jonnie raised seven children together, including four who were adopted from South Korea.

While in the Air Force, Dick specialized in electronics. This education allowed own his own business – Eckley's TV sales and service – in Wakefield, NE. Dick also spent many years teaching electronics at both the Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE and Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney, NE. Before retiring, Dick delivered newspapers for five different publications. After Dick retired, he found joy in tinkering with his model trains.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Mary Eckley, parents-in-law; Reuben and Evelyn Goldberg, sister; Susan (Eckley) Steele, and brothers; Thomas Eckley and John Eckley.

Dick is survived by wife of 64 years; JaNohn "Jonnie" (Goldberg) Eckley, children; Richard Jr. (Brenda) Eckley, Bruce (TienHsi) Eckley, Cynthia Eckley, Christina Eckley, Jeremiah (Saundra) Eckley, Ginger (Terri) Miles and Amy (Cory) Marner, grandchildren; Joshua, Jacob, Mandy, Katie, Timothy, Andrew, Karlee, Michael, Gabriel, Hannah, Renee, and Alexander, great-grandchildren; Lily, Ava, Iziah, Zoey, Bryce, Kennedy, Timothy, Lorelei, and Rolland, brother; James Eckley, sister; Mary Steele, and numerous nieces and nephews.
