Tomorrow the next level of six-man football will be decided with the Peetz Bulldogs facing the Kit Carson Wildcats.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with one loss, an away game with Prairie High School resulting in a two-point loss.
Peetz defeated Fleming last week in the first round of the playoffs. Peetz defeated Fleming 40-28 for the second time in Fleming this year.
Saturday's contest pits the 8-1 Bulldogs against the 9-1 Wildcats. Statistically, the two teams are almost identical with Kit Carson and Peetz sporting 4-1 league records, 4-0 at home and 3-1 on the road. Kit Carson has a .900 win percentage while Peetz .889. League percentage is .800 for both teams.
The difference by the records is in the scoring. Kit Carson averages nine points in the first quarter, seven in the second, four in the third and seven in the fourth for a 46.3 point game average. Peetz averages 16.2 points in the first quarter, 17.1 in the second, 14 in the third and 6.2 in the fourth for a game average of 53.6.
Kit Carson's top performer, Jayden McCombs-Farmer, averages 106 yards per game while Bryson Long of Peetz averages 111.8 yards per carry.
The reality is also that teams who make it to the semi-finals recognize they are in a series of one-game seasons; each game is for all of the marbles at this point.
