Tough Bulls For Cowboys In Cheyenne County Event

(Created: Friday, August 01, 2008)

SIDNEY - Cowboy Marcus Mariluch of Elko, Nev., led the bull riding event Tuesday by qualifying on two bulls for 160 points and took home lots of cash.

Mariluch competed in three rodeos this week. Besides riding in the Cheyenne County Rodeo, he competed in the Thedford and Hastings rodeos over the weekend - and returned to Nevada with $8,000.

The first night of rodeo action at the fair was won by the bulls with a North Dakota cowboy suffering a leg injury in the chute. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officials reported he was the only cowboy taken to the hospital.

The amateur riders didn’t have good luck on the young bulls as many of them were thrown to the dirt.

Finishing second in the Tuesday results was Kasey Bowman of LaMesa, Texas, with a 88.5 score on one bull.

Todd Flinn of Aims, Iowa, was next with an 82 score.

Chance Kvistad of Cheyenne, Wyo., scored an 80.5 ride on one bull.

A pair of Nebraska riders were next in line, Tyler Long of Stapleton with a 79 point ride and Bart Miller of Oshkosh had a 76 point ride.

The V Lazy S Rullriding Productions produced the event and the bulls were provided by H and D Bucking Bulls, Highland Cattle Co. and L4 Livestock of North Platte.
