Arrests Made For Alleged 2004 Sex Crime By Klark Byrd kbyrd@suntelegraph.com SIDNEY - A husband and wife duo have been arrested, charged with felonies and appeared in Cheyenne County Court for a sex crime that allegedly occurred on County Road 113 four years ago, officials said Friday. Joshua Manchester, 28, of Newport, Wash., and his wife, Crystal Manchester, 23, of Gurley, face their charges stemming from an incident in which the alleged victim says happened when she was 12 years old. The Cheyenne County Attorney’s Office has charged Joshua with first-degree sexual assault for the crime believed to have been committed between May 2004 and September 2004. The Class II felony charge states that Joshua sexually penetrated the girl. Crystal has been charged with a Class IIIA felony charge of child abuse. That charge states Crystal intentionally placed the minor in a situation to be sexually exploited. Court documents state the victim advised the Sidney Police Department that she had been abused sexually by the Manchesters. In Cheyenne County Court on Friday, Crystal appeared for her preliminary hearing on the charge. Lt. Keith Andrew and Sgt. Fred Wiedeburg testified during that hearing, according to County Attorney Paul Schaub. Schaub said the court decided that it appeared the offense occurred and that there is probable cause to believe that Crystal committed the crime. The case was bound over to Cheyenne County District Court for arraignment on Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m. Joshua also appeared in county court for presentment on his charge. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14 at 1:15 p.m. The duo remained in the custody of the Cheyenne County Jail on Friday morning. Crystal’s bond was set at 10 percent of $50,000 and Joshua’s was set at 10 percent of $500,000.
