| Edwin Bartling, 52, of Chadron, Neb., and a longtime Sidney resident, died early Sunday morning, March 7, 2010, at the Chadron Community Hospital. Edwin Dale Bartling, the son of Alvin and Mary (Lovell) Bartling, was born May 22, 1957, at Sidney. He grew up on the family farm north of Lodgepole where he attended country school. He continued his education in Lodgepole, graduating from Lodgepole High School in 1975. He attended Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney and was currently attending Chadron State College while working part time. Edwin enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with family. Survivors include his mother, Mary Alice Bartling of Sidney; three brothers, Allen and wife Jolene of Lincoln, Bruce and wife Carol of DeWitt, and Galen and wife Jill of Lodgepole; three sisters, Cheryl and husband Pat Faimon of Lawrence, Delma Bartling of Doniphan, and Fern and husband Jerome Frei of Potter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Bartling. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Lodgepole with the Rev. Linda Walz and Pastor Leon “Bud” Gillespie officiating. Inurnment will be in the Weyerts Cemetery. Cremation has taken place and there is no viewing at the funeral home. Friends who wish may sign the register book from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney. Memorials have been established to the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.
