Jackie Wright

1944 to 2010

Jackie Wright, 65, of Sidney, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Sidney.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, in the First Christian Church with Pastor Guy Schmielau officiating.  Private family inurnment will follow.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and sign Jackie’s register book and drop off condolences for the family on Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m.

Jackie K. Wright, the daughter of M. Jack and Virginia Ruth (Castetter) Wright, was born on Sept. 23, 1944, at McPherson, Kan. Following graduation, Jackie attended college in McPherson and worked at Sheets-Adams Realty. In 1964 she moved to Reno, Nev., and worked at the Townhouse Motel and later for Yellow Cab Taxi. From the late-1960s to the mid-1970s, she worked at Humpty Dumpty Nursery, Yellow Cab and Alarmex. In 1979, Jackie moved back to Sidney and began a career spanning more than 30 years working for Foland Farm Machinery.

Jackie enjoyed crafts, making silk arrangements for undecorated graves on Memorial Day, reading and working in puzzles.

Survivors include her son, David Butler and wife Michelle of Philip, S.D.; her mother, Ruth Wright of Sidney; one brother, Bruce Wright of Sidney; three grandchildren, Kelcey, Katie and Lukas Butler; a special friend who was like a sister, Billie Jo Teasley of Sparks, Nev.; Craig Bruner Jr. and family, and Travis Glanz and family, all of Sidney, who where like sons to Jackie. She held a special place in her heart for David and Michelle’s nieces and nephews and always made sure to ask about them as if they were her own.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jackie’s name to Cool Kids Club, 1101 21st Ave., Sidney, NE  69162.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service is in charge of Jackie’s care and funeral arrangements.
