Join The Torch Run

| Sidney – Local athletes are invited to run a mile with the torch in the Nebraska National Guard and Air Guard Cornhusker State Games Torch Run. Over 1,000 Cornhuskers will share in this statewide tradition. The Torch Run will be carried in our area from May 8 in Sidney to Ogallala on May 9. The Cornhusker State Games is one of the largest amateur sports festivals in the country. In June thousands of Nebraskans of all ages and abilities will compete in over 60 sports, showcasing their talents and encouraging others to adopt healthy, Active lifestyles. The spirit of the Games will be spread by the Torch Run throughout Nebraska. The opening ceremonies kick off the games June 25 at Seacrest Field in Lincoln and the torcy will be carried over 1,100 miles to the Wyoming border, west of Scottsbluff. This will be the 25th year of the Torch Runs, thanks to the sponsorship of the Nebraska National Guard and Air Guard. It is patterned after the Olympic Torch Run, you can choose to run for exercise or a casual jog. The 2010 Cornhusker State Games are set for June 25 through June 27.
