| SIDNEY — The opening go round of the Cheyenne County Rodeo was exciting and the weather was great as Spud Tharp of Ault, Colo., led the bull riders with an 87 aboard Wasp to excite the rodeo fans. The second go round was Tuesday evening. Halfway through the rodeo, Clint Wilson of Mullen was second with a 78 on Prairie Fire and Travis Weber of Baggs, Wyo., was third with a 75 on Moody Blues. In bareback competition, Evan Jayne of Stephenville, Texas, and originally from France, was the only rider to have a scoring ride as he had an 83 on Bart Star. In the saddle bronc competition, Jesse Jolly of Agate, Colo., was first with a 73 on board Doc Holiday and Red Bond of Broadwater was second with a 57 on Jimmy Jim Jim. Nancy Smith of Wray, Colo., was first in the barrel racing with a time of 15.75 seconds, Katie Epp of Lisco was second in 15.86 and Audra McCorkle of Greeley, Colo., was third in 15.87. Lyndsey Simonton of Broken Bow was fourth in 15.93, Shanan Doherty of Sterling, Colo., was fifth in 15.96 and Shentell Kling of Kersey, Colo., was sixth in 15.99. Cole Dorenkamp of Lamar, Colo., was red-hot the first night in calf roping with a time of 8.8 seconds, Travis Lymber of Broken Bow was second with a 9.5 second time and Justin Roselle of Greeley was third in 9.9 seconds. Ray Brown of North Platte was fourth in 10.4 seconds, Coy Kummer of Grovier, Colo., was fifth in 11.3 seconds and Calvin Brevik of Durango, Colo., was sixth in 11.7 seconds. Tagg From of Thedford was impressive in the steer wrestling, finishing five seconds faster than the second-place finisher with a time of 4.3 seconds. In second was Jesse Jolly of Agate with a 9.5 second time, Jacob Sterkel of Brighton, Colo., was third in 9.9 seconds, Gus Cross of Torrington, Wyo., was fourth in 10.4 seconds, Lane Morrow of Chadron was fifth in 13.4 seconds and Chad Johnston of Maywood was sixth in 14.4 seconds. In the always-popular team roping, Calvin Brevik of Durango teamed up with Kory Bramwell of Cromo, Colo., for a first-place time of 5.3 seconds for the first session. In second was the pair of Andy Miller of Wellfleet and Levi Tyan of North Platte with a 5.5 second time. Jerry Buckles of Burwell and Mark Swanson of Arthur were third in 5.6 seconds, Jay Tittel and Ryon Tittel, both of Pueblo, Colo., were fourth in 5.9 seconds. Cole Cooper of Grand Junction, Colo., and T.J. Watts of Eads, Colo., were fifth with a time of six seconds flat while Cole Dorenkamp and Jesse Jolly were sixth in 6.1 seconds. Bull fighter Snorkle Steve From of Lodgepole entertained the crowd with his wheel-standing Jeep and his act on stilts.
