GRAND ISLAND – A Sidney man was arrested in Grand Island on Dec. 28, 2009 for first-degree sexual assault for an alleged incident involving a Sidney girl, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Department.

His bond has been set at 10 percent of $150,000.

The suspect is an employee of the Sidney Public School District and has been placed on indefinite leave, according to Sidney Superintendent John Hakonson.

“We have already hired a replacement,” Hakonson told The Sidney Sun-Telegraph Tuesday afternoon.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 10 in Hall County.

The suspect remains in the custody of Hall County Correctional Facility.

It is yet to be determined if charges will also be filed in Cheyenne County.

It is The Sidney Sun-Telegraph’s policy to not name a local sex assault suspect unless they are found or plead guilty.

This is happening all over the country. Go to www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. Already this year they have documented two of these types of incidents. In 2009 they found 464 of these kinds of cases.

This teacher should of never been hired at Sidney cause he was released from Kearney Public Schools for the same allegations, but the problem is the Teacher's Union, when Sidney called Kearney for a reference this teacher was given high marks and nothing was mentioned about his problems with the School and other schools. Do some research and check out the Teacher's Union policy and guidelines, they protect these teachers!!!
