Sidney City Council recently received a target market strategy study, which provides several likely avenues and industries for the city to pursue to spur economic growth. Sidney’s City Council is considering an amendment to the city’s liquor laws, including one change regarding consumption of liquor on city-owned property. An ordinance to alter the code was introduced on first reading at the Jan. 10 council meeting, and will come back before the council for a second look Jan. 24. Sidney Public Schools (SPS) Board met to conduct new year business in Monday’s regular board meeting. The SPS Board welcomed Dr. Brandon Brown as the newest member of the board. Brown was elected to the board in the 2016 election; he took the place of prior board member Randy Miller. Outside of the school board role, Brown is a Family Medicine Physician at Sidney Regional Medical Center, with special interests in Sports Medicine and Obstetrics. “I am an avid sports fanatic and either participate or watch pretty much any sport,” Brown said....

Jmyle Koretz left high school at graduation time then moved about the country doing many jobs, getting training in several subjects, but seemingly not setting down any roots. At age twenty-three, he needed a job. He went one of many US Navy recruiters in the Washington DC area. The recruiter provided Jmyle a time for a physical exam and for taking the ASVAB.
