    The condition of some county roads was again lamented by residents this week at a Cheyenne County Commissioners meeting. For the second time in three months, a handful of county residents appeared before the board of commissioners to voice concerns regarding the state of unpaved roads that crisscross the county.   • Fairgrounds no longer open for boarding horses

    The Cheyenne County Fairgrounds will no longer be available as a facility for the temporary boarding of horses, commissioners decided this week. Possible liability issues arising from allowing the fairgrounds to be used as a camping site and for horse boarding at times other than during county-sponsored events was first discussed last month. At a meeting on June 1, commissioners voted to limit camping on the grounds to the fair, Oktoberfest and similar events.     Students from 21 schools across Nebraska qualified to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center's 23rd annual State Science meet in Omaha earlier this month. Sidney Middle School eighth grader Quinn Siler received top honors at the regional meet on his presentation about growing plants using hydroponics and earned a chance to attend the state meet.   • No injuries in truck rollover

    A single-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon five miles north of Sidney left a dump truck loaded with discarded roofing materials on its side, according to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office. The truck, travelling east along County Road 32, left the road to the south before the driver overcorrected, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway to the north, rolling and spilling its load.     The family of Stanley and Velma Raddatz would like to announce the couple's 70th wedding anniversary. They were married June 17, 1945 in Edgemont, S.D. After Stan finished serving in the Army, they returned to the family farm west of Lorenzo and had three children: Gale, Jo and Jerry.     The Panhandle Senior Women’s Golf Association held its latest outing at Scenic Knolls Golf Course in Mitchell.
