    Beer cans littered Highway 385 early on Tuesday morning, according to eyewitness reports. A beer delivery truck, driven for Arrowhead Distributing, veered off the road at around 4 a.m. sprinkling the road with beer cans and causing a highway closure. Aaron Dobrinkski of Scottsbluff was headed south on Highway 385 about four miles south of Dalton when, according to the accident report from the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s office, the truck started to make a clicking noise.   • Sidney student population on the rise

    Enrollment at Sidney public schools is steadily trending upward. The number of students rose from 1,239 at the end of 2012 to 1,279 at the end of this school year. “I anticipate that we will start this year (fall 2014) with over 1,300 students in Sidney Public Schools,” said Sidney schools superintendent Jay Ehler at Monday’s school board meeting.     The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday, June 17, before the Honorable Randin Roland: Steven Simpson, age 54 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Animal Cruelty, a class IV felony. He asked for a continuance and it’s been scheduled for July 1 at 2:30 p.m. Joe Liges, age 53 of Sidney, appeared for presentment on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class IV Felony.     Sixty-six eighth-grade students from 24 schools across Nebraska attended UNMC's 22nd annual State Science Meet June 5-7, for an educational and fun experience.
