    Cheyenne County Fair and Rodeo had its first 4-H events over the weekend at Cheyenne County Fairgrounds. Activities officially opened fair week this week with the 4-H Fashion Show on Thursday. Friday, swine carcass pigs were loaded up early and transported to Ovid, Colorado, where owners were able to watch measuring and judging of carcasses at Ovid Meats.     Steve Mattoon, of Sidney law firm Matzke & Mattoon, has been named President of the Nebraska Bar Association for 2019.   • Hwy. 30 segment closed through end of week

    City officials have received word from the Nebraska Department of Transportation that Hwy. 30 between 5th Avenue and Fort Sidney Road will be closed beginning today and will reopen at the end of the day on Friday. During construction work and milling operations, the contractor found some areas that need extra attention, according to Dawn Martin, Assistant City Manager.     Sean Ewert, 49, of Sidney, faces 50 years and a minimum sentence of five years on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a class 1C felony. Ewert was arrested June 30 as part of a WING taskforce bust at Sidney Post Office. At Ewert's preliminary hearing Thursday in Cheyenne County Court, Judge Randin R.     Eva M. Walker, age 91 of Sidney, NE passed away at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care in Sidney, Tuesday, July 11, 2017.
