    After many community members spoke against it on Monday night, Sidney’s planning commission voted against allowing a temporary cell tower in a residential neighborhood.     A driver who lost control of his vehicle hitting many objects in the process caused the power outages in central and south Sidney on Saturday. Jamee Guggenmos of Gurley was traveling north out of Sidney on County Rd. 111 when he crossed the center line and struck multiple road signs, according to an accident report from the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office.   • Gravel pit promises compliance

    At Monday’s meeting members of the planning commission approved a conditional use permit for a gravel pit about a half mile outside the city limits along County Rd. 113. The owner of the pit, Fred Neal plans to allow a contractor to work out of the pit to supply gravel for U.S. defense missile road contracts. “I want to be a good neighbor,” Neal said. “My land essentially surrounds that and I don’t want to have any issues.
