    Sidney resident and long-time Sidney High School English teacher Dorothy Holloway celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends Monday afternoon. Although Holloway is originally from Wyoming, she has made a lasting mark in Sidney and in the Sidney Public Schools, where she taught for 30 years.     After a year of preparations, then 10 days full of events, members of the Cheyenne County Fair Board can now pause to catch their breaths. That is, until they begin work next month on the 2016 fair.   • Wilkinson appeal hearing set for Friday

    A hearing on the appeal of a 30-day jail sentence handed down to Sidney Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the District Court of Cheyenne Court. Wilkinson, who is on paid administrative leave, pleaded no contest on July 17 to a single misdemeanor charge of obstructing government operations. While he was initially ordered to begin serving his jail term at the Cheyenne County Jail on Monday, Aug. 3, the appeal process has put that on hold.   • Apparent fight in car leads to death of Sidney man in Wyoming crash

    A single-vehicle crash in Wyoming last week resulted in the death of 34-year-old Sidney resident Daniel T. Poole. The crash occurred on July 29 at about 10:35 p.m. on Interstate 25 approximately seven miles south of Douglas, Wyo. Poole was the front-seat passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by his wife, 28-year-old Brittany Poole. Daniel and Brittany Poole were reported to be arguing while traveling north on I-25, according to Sgt. David Wagener of the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
