  • Continuance granted in case of teen accused of texting while driving

    The Sidney teenager accused of texting while driving before he was involved in a fatal head-on collision in July appeared in Cheyenne County District Court on Wednesday afternoon. Hayden Graham, 16, was represented by local attorney Tom Sontag, who requested a two-week continuance in the case. It was granted, and Graham will next return to court on Sept. 18 at 3:45 p.m. Graham is charged with motor vehicle homicide, driving left of center, use of a handheld wireless communication device while driving and use of a handheld communication device... Full story

    Ethan Nelson, a senior in high school who is attending dual credit classes at Western Nebraska Community College, is the Cheyenne County Art Guild "Artist of the Month" for September. Nelson began his career of drawing and painting at an early age.   • Work to begin on I-80 from Bushnell to Kimball

    Work is scheduled to begin next week on I-80 from Bushnell to the west Kimball interchange, on the westbound lanes only, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Werner Construction of Hasting has the $2,099,199 contract for concrete repair, milling and resurfacing. The highway improvement project will involve the repair of concrete pavement, removal and replacement of asphalt and installation of new rumble strips on both shoulders. Traffic will be maintained throughout the project using lane closures reduced to 12 feet wide....
