    Daughters of the American Revolution(DAR), Sidney Chapter, had a visit from their State Regent Saturday at the Veterans History Center in Sidney. DAR's objective is to maintain the memory of the men and women who achieved American Independence. The group meets the second Saturday of every month.     Dalton Volunteer Fire Department proudly announced a new generation of trained emergency medical technicians. These Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) have undergone rigorous training including course work, hands-on training and continuing education. The rescue unit known as “Dalton 99” usually goes to all fires, accidents and other rescue calls for sickness and injury. During the 2015-16 years they responded to 14 fires and 25 rescue calls.     Cheyenne County Commissioners held their regular meeting Monday, to review the 2016 Cheyenne County Fair.. Fair Board member Anita Pennel gave the 2016 Cheyenne County Fair Report. “Our fair this year went really well,” Pennel said. Pennel laid out 2016 fair expenses, budget, ticket sales and income for the commissioners, coming out with a positive grand total of $54,826.53. “Good report,” said Commissioner Darrell Johnson with Commissioner Philip Sanders adding that he was “impressed” with report.     Cheyenne County Chamber is hosting its fourth annual Newcomer’s Social at the Sidney Community Center on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 5-7 p.m. All residents who are new to Cheyenne County within the past 24 months are welcome to attend. Many different businesses from the community will be in attendance to represent their Cheyenne County business to newcomers.     Three turnovers in two minutes took Sidney from a touchdown behind to a homecoming win Friday evening with a 35-28 victory over Hastings. Sidney is 2-2 in its first four games. With the score deadlocked 14-14 through the third quarter, Hastings marched down the field to close the quarter, scoring a go-ahead, four-yard touchdown on the first play in the fourth quarter.
