    Sidney's 41st annual Oktoberfest celebration attracted locals and out-of-towners for hometown fun this past weekend. With a parade, entertainment, food and brew, a car show, crafts, horseshoes, a farmers market and wiener dog races, there was something for everyone of all ages to enjoy.     The Sidney Police Department arrested a burglary suspect on Friday, just hours after a break-in at the Kid's Korner Childcare & Learning Korner Preschool located in the Cheyenne County Community Center in Sidney. The day care staff contacted police early Friday morning after noticing the vandalism when they arrived for work.     The Lodgepole Historical Society will likely receive $1,000 this year from Cheyenne County to help support its efforts to preserve and display the village’s history. On Monday, Maryann Dickinson, a historical society board member, told the Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners the county had previously made an annual contribution to the group. “But we didn’t get any last year,” she said.     Average retail gasoline prices in Nebraska have fallen one cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.33 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,150 gas outlets in Nebraska. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.29 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.     At halftime of Sidney High School's football game last Friday night, Security First Bank and Insurance presented a $500 donation as part of its participation with the TeamMates Mentoring Program. Last spring, the bank sponsored a contest to design this year's new popcorn bag. The winning design was created by TeamMates mentor Barb Verhulst and her mentee, Shayla Cyr. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 8 in the Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Gary Ogle officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
