    Several local schools were canceled or had late starts due to the colder temperatures, wind and snow Wednesday morning. According to Shawn Liebl, a meteorologist at the Cheyenne, Wyo., Weather Forecast Office, Sidney had no snow accumulation and weather warnings were canceled around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.   • Search on for new Sidney city manager

    Applications will soon be accepted for the vacant Sidney city manager position. Mayor Mark Nienhueser said representatives from an executive recruitment firm hired by the city to help in the search process were in town last week. The representatives met with department heads and city councilors to help identify characteristics sought in a new city manager, the mayor said at a city council meeting on Tuesday. “We are in the process of finalizing the drafts of those documents that will hopefully get posted this week,” Nienhueser said.     The following case was heard in Cheyenne County District Court before on Nov. 10 before the Honorable Derek C. Weimer: Tyler Kracht, 23, Canon City, Colo., was sentenced today to serve four to seven years imprisonment for attempted distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a playground, which is a Class II felony.     It was a good season for the athletes who took part in fall sports at Sidney High School. The school had five teams that advanced beyond the district level into the playoffs.
