    Sunday, December 8 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, the 17th Worldwide Candle Lighting will take place. The Worldwide Candle Lighting is an event put on by The Compassionate Friends.     Sidney pet owners can begin picking up 2014 dog tags starting Dec. 1. Tags are available at the Sidney Police Department at 1715 Illinois St. Owners must present a certificate indicating a current rabies vaccination for each dog or a license will not be issued. The fee for an intact female is $11 while the fee for an intact male is $6. Altered females, males and puppies younger than six months old are no charge. (AP) — A wintry storm pushing through the Rockies and Midwest is bringing bitterly cold temperatures and treacherous driving conditions blamed in at least six deaths as it threatens crops as far south as California.
