The process of annexation is a fairly lengthy and intensive one that requires public hearings in front of both the planning commission and city council. Caitlin Sievers|Feb 20, 2014

Many of those who made statements about the death of co-founder of Cabela’s, Dick Cabela described his life as the American dream. As someone who started a business on a $45 investment at a kitchen table that grew to a $3.6 billion world wide corporation, he surely did create a dream life for he and his family. Cabela saw wild success in his business, lived in small town American with his family and was a regular church-goer. His life was surely the envy of many of his peers. • 3 Days to Kill (PG-13)

    Dave Faries|Feb 20, 2014

A father with a particular set of skills. A naive daughter. An assignment in France. It would only seem natural if a scowling Liam Neeson strolled into one of the opening scenes, draped in a black winter coat. But this is not another episode of “Taken.” There is no kidnapping. There is, however, quite a bit of retribution--dished out this time by Kevin Costner, back in a lead role for the first time since ... well, it’s really hard to remember. Costner plays a government hit man looking to get out of the game after decades of slaughter....

  • Talking Sports: The short list

    Stephen McKay|Feb 20, 2014

It’s been a while now - I don’t know how long. But I came across a list of the 10 greatest sports speeches ever made. The top one on the list was a poem by Muhammad Ali he read before fighting George Foreman in Africa - “The Rumble in the Jungle” they called it in 1974. Right away I knew it wasn’t a list to be taken seriously. I can only remember one sports speech in my lifetime that was especially memorable - at least for me. The March 3, 1993 ESPYs speech of Jim Valvano. Sure Valvano’s speech was on the list, but somewhere in the...
