    Sidney's Brian and Julie Slagle won first place this year in the annual "House Lighting" contest sponsored by the Cheyenne County Visitors Committee. The Slagles, whose house is located at 2040 Elm St., won $100. Second place went to John Hanley and Kandace Conroy at 2214 13th Ave. They won $75.     Residents at the Golden Living Center were the recipients of a number of gifts Tuesday afternoon courtesy of the Adopt-A-Senior program sponsored by the Cheyenne County Community Center. Kierston Richards, the activity director at the center, and Scott Borcher, the center’s senior community director, assisted with the four-year-old program.   • Adams Industries helps community through various giving projects

    During the holiday months, Adams Industries has been involved in various activities to help less fortunate families in our community. In November, it hosted a community-wide coat drive. It asked employees and the members of the community to donate any men's, women's or children's gently used coats, gloves, scarves or hats.     CHADRON – Chadron State College has announced the names of 660 students who qualified for the institution’s fall 2014 semester academic honors lists. The president’s list, which requires a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, consists of 277 names. Another 383 students met requirements for the dean’s list by earning at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
