    The Sidney Chief Building Official Brad Rowan appeared before the members of the city council on May 28 for the second reading of the proposal to adopt the 2012 edition building, plumbing and mechanical/international fuel and gas codes 1694, 1695 and 1696. Rowan said during the May 28 meeting that he has received only positive responses from people about raising the fees and some people even asked why it hadn’t been done before.     Plenty of vigorous fish have been placed into their new home in the pond at Sidney’s Legion Park on Wednesday in preparation for Kids’ Fishing Day this Saturday, June 1. A team of six Cabela’s employees volunteered to help stock the pond with 475 trout, bluegill, perch and catfish trucked over by Brian Hahle with Pleasant Valley Fish Farm of McCook.     Before Last night's American Legion Baseball game at Legion Field, Sidney shortstop Lane Harvey threw out the first ball in honor of his late grandfather Maynard Wieser. Since the baseball program is so dependent on donations, it is Sidney's custom to honor "Homerun Sponsors" before each home game.
