Cheyenne County students receive Academic All-State

Dozen SHS students named by NSAA

LINCOLN — Nearly two dozen Cheyenne County high school students were recognized recently as earning Academic All-State honors for the fall season by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA).

Since 2006, the NSAA’s awards program — presented in conjunction with the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) — has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination (individual academic excellence, leadership and significant contributions in their NSAA activity) by their school in the season of their respective activity.

No fewer than a dozen Sidney High School students were awarded.

Those from SHS who were recognized were Kelby Christian and Lucas Rosenbaum (football); Sarah Krueger and Madi Malzahn (volleyball); Karson Langley and Rachel Petik (girls golf); LaNaya Guutierrez and Casey Baldwin (play production); Calder Rosdail and Taylor Kaus (boys’ cross-country); and McKenzie Rosdail and Morgan Linneman (girls’ cross-country).

Creek Valley students honored were Jared Savely (football and play production); Sam Behrends (play production); and Jill Behrends and Summer Mueller (volleyball).

Leyton honorees were A.W. Frerichs and Josh Reimers (football), and Morgan Dykman and Rachael Ernest (volleyball).

Similar awards are also presented for winter and spring sports by the NSAA/NCPA.
