Travel to Denver for Starfest this weekend

Starfest is many things to many people.

This weekend’s Denver event features the likes of Ben Browder, Avery Brooks, Melissa McBride, Seth Gabel, Julie Caitlin Brown, Nicole de Boer, Deep Roy and David Boop, amongst others.

The convention will also include areas that feature the RobotFest, ComicFest, DigiFest, GameFest, HorrorFest and RoboFest. Admission to all of these will be included in the StarFest ticket purchase. Tickets to ComicFest only may be purchased for $10 per day or $15 for all three days with children under age six free.

There will be plenty of Star Wars, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica things to see and partake in.

You can find areas with trivia, panel discussions on various topics, “how to’s” on a variety of things, Karaoke, fan clubs and game shows such as the Geek Dating Game.

The Federation Ball will be on Saturday in the Atrium at 9:00 p.m. Costumes are optional. Join Feddies, Klingons, Vulcans and the occasional celebrity at the ball. Door prizes awarded; must be present to win. There will be a dance contest with prizes awarded to the winners and the audience gets to help with the judging. Admission to the ball is $3 per person. A professional DJ will provide the music.

All of this takes place April 19-21 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

Events start on Friday at 6:00 a.m. withwhat’s called MediaFest. This is open to anyone willing to come to the Marriott in costume and be on TV.

After MediaFest there will be various panels, games and a parade that anyone can attend.

Friday night is the Official Meet and Greet party, where attendees can rub shoulders with and get to know some of the convention guests over coffee, soda, and desserts.

The annual event will feature its usual autograph and photo sessions with the celebrities who are in attendance.Tickets may be purchased for either one or both autographs and photos.

There will be two epic Star Wars battle reenactments at GameFest, which will be at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center convention facilities. There will be a variety of games to check out, including role playing, board games, table top games and box games. There will be open gaming, kid’s games, a silent auction, contests and giveaways. Special guests will be S. John Ross and Columbine the Butterfly.

Ticket pricing for StarFest varies, depending on what a person chooses to do while there. Autograph and photo sessions with celebrities run around $25 for each event, for each celebrity and these sessions are not included with the event admission ticket. Levels of pricing include regular admission, VIP and Platinum. Adult ticket prices start at $20; children start at $10. Prices are higher at the door.
