News from Cheyene County Community Center

Sign up for three different activities at the Cheyenne Community Center are now ongoing. A youth baseball camp, co-ed and men’s softball and youth-tee ball and coach-pitch baseball.

The baseball camp is for youth’s 11-years-old and up to be held on May 4, at Legion Field. Deadline to sign up is May 3.

The camp will be divided into age groups with 7-10-year-olds attending from 1-3 p.m. Ages 11-and-up will go from 3-5 p.m.

“We’ll break them down into smaller groups and really work on the fundamentals,” said Sports Director Kasey Kantor. “We have about six coaches who really know the game to run the program.”

Additionally, a number of the older Legion ball players will help with the camp. Not too unlike how the major leaguers do it in spring training, the kids will rotate from one group to another. Groups will include infield play, outfield, pitching, hitting, baserunning and other disciplines.

Cost for the camp is $25 and comes with tee shirt.

Sign up for co-ed and men’s softball are being held at the Community Center through the end of the month.

The cost for each team is $375. Registration will continue through April 30, or when the first 13-paid teams for each league have signed up.

Men’s softball games will be held on Tuesday’s at 7:15 p.m. The season starts on May 14. The co-ed schedule will be played each Thursday and start on May 16, at 7:15 p.m. A brief coach’s meeting for each league is scheduled for May 8.

Sign ups for t-ball and coach-pitch baseball continues through May 6, at the Community Center. T-ball is open to all children 5 and 6-years-old while coach pitch is for children 7 and 8-years-old.

For more information on any of these programs call Kasey at the Community Center at 254-7000.
