Marian Sarah Roberts Mather, 89, of Gurley died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 with her children present at the home of her daughter, Paula Mather in Lynch, Neb. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney. Pastor Doug Birky will officiate with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Don Mather, Matthew and Jonathan Adams, Eli Weyerts, Vaughn and James Meehan will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marian's name to the Gurley Fire Department, the Lynch Fire Department or the Donor's choice.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday, December 30th from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Marian Sarah Roberts was born May 21, 1924 in Peetz, Colo. to Richard Roberts and Ula Vaughn Roberts, both deceased. The family moved to Sidney in 1937. Marian worked as a clerk in a store on Illinois St. and a farm related business until she was hired by Wheatbelt where she met Lyle Mather. They were married on Feb 17, 1952 in the First Christian Church. They lived in Sidney until moving to Montana in 1960 where they resided for almost 6 years. The family returned to Sidney in 1966 and shortly thereafter moved to Gurley when Lyle secured a position at the Gurley Elevator and also served as Village Clerk. Marian served her family and community well as a homemaker and her husband's permanent secretary.

She is survived by two daughters Pamela (Thomas) Hill of London, Ky. and Paula Mather of Lynch; one son Don Mather (Angie) of Arvada, Colo .; son-in-law Lonnie Dallegge of Big Springs; two grandsons, Matthew (Alicia) Adams of Big Springs and Jonathan (Ashlee) Adams of Van Meter, Iowa; granddaughter-in-law, Alana Adams of Haxtun, Colo .; two great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; sister-in-law Shirley Morthole of Omaha; three nieces; three nephews as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; parents Richard and Ula Roberts; sister Clarine Meehan; brothers-in-law George Meehan and Allen Morthole; daughter Karen Dallegge and two grandsons, Stephen and Mark Adams.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. James Keil, Butte Health Care Center, Asera Care Hospice and HomeInstead; and special thanks and appreciation to her daytime caregivers Shirley Mathis, Pat Rust, Laurie Silverthorn, Chris Mlady, Nancy Wuollet and Alice Bishop.
