Storm fall 61-42 to hot shooting Garden County

The Creek Valley Storm’s chance to advance into the final rounds of the boys MAC tourney ended Tuesday night with a 61-42 loss to the Garden County Eagles in Oshkosh.

The No. 3 Eagles now travel to Sidney to meet second seeded Leyton, who toppled No. 7 South Platte in Dalton Tuesday night, 49-15.

“(We) did not handle their man-to-man defense very well,” said Storm Head Coach Roger Behrends. “They shot the ball really well all night. We will keep working and get better.”

Lane Godfrey led the Storm with 13 points and Maverick Widdowson added 10. Colin Brott scored 8 and Brett Godfrey 7 in his return to the court after an injury.

Brott and Lane Godfrey aided their teammates with a pair of assists each.

Lane Godfrey was the top rebounder as well as he pulled down 7 boards. Brott and Brett Godfrey had 5 and 4 rebounds, respectively. Three players, including the Godfrey brothers and Widdowson, accumulated 3 steals apiece.

The Storm are not scheduled for another game until Jan. 31, when they travel to Sutherland.
